Converting 10 mins poses into a dramatic setting

We had our figure drawing classes where we would take turns posing and sketching at the school (Animation and Art School, Goa). This was an exercise where you use the poses and add a background of your choice, converting it into a scene. I of course chose a war scene, adding elements to complete the look.

The oh-so early hours of the morning.

Yawn, Stretch.. or just curl up and sleep. This cat seems to have a clear idea of what it wants to do.Concept art. Digitally painted.

 Did this off the top of my head, no reference used. Figuring where the light would hit seemed a bit of a task.

 I somehow liked the idea of a floating friendly creature guiding the character. Tried to guage the lighting in this one with a warm and cool source being present.

Out of the closet and into..

Lets see if you can figure out which movie this is from ! I hand painted it using mainly poster colours and a bit of acrylic in order to understand the importance tonal values as well as the use of the cool/warm colours that help to guide the eye movement in an image while still highlighting objects you want the viewer to see.

This took a while but it seemed to turn out okay. The paper I used provided an interesting texture to work with.
